Like it or not, there are universal laws that are always at work and governing our lives and it’s up to us to come to the awareness of them and gain a better understanding of their workings so we can work in harmony with each of them.
Knowledge of these universal laws will help you navigate life better and help you lead a happier and more fulfilling life.
Of course, it goes without saying that you can’t continue going through life like you were before coming to the knowledge of these laws. With great knowledge comes great responsibility.
In this article, I will explain the 5 universal laws listed below and how you can use them to your advantage to create better realities for yourself.
- The law of mentalism
- The law of correspondence
- The law of Karma (the law of cause and effect)
- The law of vibration
- The law of attraction
1. The law of mentalism
There is a reason why this is the first universal law. It is because everything starts from the mind.
Before anything was created on this earth, it started out as a thought.
The phone, tablet, or computer you are using to read this article, believe it or not, started out as a thought in someone’s mind and later manifested into whatever gadget you are looking into now.
This law refers to the way your mental processes affect your experiences in life.
If you have a positive mindset, you will begin to attract the people, circumstances, and situations in your life that validate your beliefs. And if you have a negative mindset, everything around you will seem negative.
It’s important to note: Our world only exists in our minds. Without our awareness, the world ceases to exist.
Sooner or later everything in your mind will start to materialize on the physical plane.
THE ALL IS MIND; The universe is mental – The Kybalion
So, let this law work for you by having a clear vision of where you want to be, what you want to do, and what you want to create on this earth. See clearly your good!
2. The law of correspondence
Have you ever heard of the sayings: “As above, so below”, “as within so without”, or “on earth as it is in heaven?”
These three statements are talking about the law of correspondence which talks about the communication between your physical self and your Higher Self.
It talks about the correspondence between the lower energies of the physical mind (Earth) and the higher energies of the Divine mind (Heaven).
Before coming to the knowledge of this law, I used to hear esoteric sayings like: “you will continue to experience the same circumstances until you learn the lesson life is trying to teach you.”
I used to be so confused by this saying.
However, through understanding this law, I learned that when you experience a negative situation in your outer world, it means that there is a disturbance, a discord in your inner world.
This law teaches that you must look at an issue until it’s healed.
A great example to help you better understand this law is: Imagine you are facing a challenge in your relationships; every one of your relationships has always failed.
When this becomes a reoccurring pattern in your life, a great question to ask yourself is: which part of myself am I relating to; is it my Higher Self or my physical self?
When you are experiencing negative emotions and are in lower energy, remember that these emotions are not in alignment with your Higher Self; the true you.
These negative energies will keep bouncing back to you until you look at what you need to heal within yourself.
When your ability to navigate through a problem becomes more aligned with Divine wisdom by (approaching situations from an abode of love, peace, and kindness), negative emotions will cease to exist in real-time, and this is the point when significant progress is made.
Always remember that your Higher Self is always operating from a place of love, peace, and kindness.
So, let this law work for you by staying in alignment with your Higher Self. Whenever you face a difficult or negative situation, whichever action you decide to take, ensure it stems from a place of love, peace, and kindness.
3. The law of karma (The law of cause and effect)
I recently learned that Karma originally meant action and later it came to be understood as the destiny one creates through one’s actions.
The law of Karma or the law of cause and effect teaches that our fate is not arbitrary nor is it imposed by supernatural forces. Simply put, we create our own destiny.
One of the sayings I came across that best describes this law is:
“If you want to understand the causes that existed in the past, look at the results as they are manifested in the present, and if you want to understand what results will be manifested in the future, look at the causes that exist in the present.” – Nichiren Daishonin
If the power to create our own destiny “effects” lies in our actions “causes”, we have the power to seize our own destiny. This is a very empowering law! Don’t you think?
However, it also works the other way. If you choose negative thoughts, words, and deeds, you are surely going to face their negative effects. And just to add on, please don’t let this statement make you apprehensive.
I think it’s important to remember that life is a journey and if you are still alive, you have an opportunity to think, talk, and act differently.
So don’t think the law of Karma is fatalistic and fixed. You can take full responsibility for your actions now! and change the destiny of your life for the better.
So, let this law work for you by choosing good thoughts, words, and deeds.
4. The law of vibration
I’m going to start this explanation by making a bold statement: God is not a respecter of persons; He is a respecter of vibrations.
This is something I heard from a friend recently and it rang true to me because of a story I had read prior to our discussion.
The story was from the book- The Untethered Soul by Michael Alan Singer.
To paraphrase, the story goes: God comes down on earth to visit His creation and talks to the first two people He meets. He asks the first person “how are you liking my creation?” and the person says: “It’s great, however, I hate that the trees are bent, and I also hate when the mosquitoes bite me.”
He then moves on to the next person and asks the same question. “How are you liking my creation?” The person says: “I love the trees and even if they are bent, they still give me joy. I love the mosquitoes too. It’s a wonder that they are not afraid to bite a big giant like me.”
Michael A. Singer goes on to pose the question: Whom of the two people do you think God would like to spend more time with?
God is love and love is one of the higher energies on the energy vibrational scale which means that whenever you are in a positive state of mind, you are operating at a higher energy level; you are close to God and God is close to you.
Energy moves in waves and these waves are vibrations. When you are happy and joyous you are experiencing high vibrations. Energy is everything and everything is energy.
This law goes hand in hand with the next law I will be discussing, which is the law of attraction.
When you are in high vibrational energy, you attract more positive things into your reality. We attract that which we are. That is the law of attraction.
So let this law work for you by staying focused on the good in your life and vibrating high.
5. The law of attraction
Quite frankly, this is the most known law of all the universal laws. This is because it was popularized by the book and film -The Secret by Rhonda Byrne.
This law taught me the importance and power of focus.
It states that whatever you focus your energy on will come back to you. Meaning positive thoughts bring about positive results and negative thoughts bring about negative outcomes.
Because thoughts have power, they send out electromagnetic fields into the universe and they attract the same kind of thoughts. The law of attraction states: like attracts like.
When these thoughts dominate your mind, you will be forced to act and that is when the magic happens.
Anything that you give your attention to will become your “truth.” The law of attraction says that it must. Your life, and everyone else’s, too, is but a reflection of the predominance of your thoughts. There is no exception to this. – Esther and Jerry Hicks
So, let this law work for you by focusing on the positive things in your life. A nice tidbit is to always keep a gratitude journal. This will allow you to stay focused on the positive.
Conclusion
It’s crazy to me how scientific laws are taught in school and not universal laws.
I think it’s crucial to understand these laws and their workings since they impact our daily lives.
Coming to the knowledge of these laws will empower you to stay connected to the Divine and your Higher Self. After all, we are not only physical beings but, most importantly, spiritual beings.
